Profile

Dr. med. Nils Marschalek works in the knee section of the MVZ Restart-Ortho in Berlin Zehlendorf.

After studying at Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Dr. Marschalek began his medical career in 2014 at the DRK Klinikum Berlin Westend. Under the direction of Dr. med. T. John, the focus was initially on general orthopedic and trauma surgery training. In 2018, the opportunity arose to rotate into the Joint and Spine Center (GWZ) Steglitz under the direction of Dr. med. V. Laute as part of his further training. There, his passion for joint-preserving surgery and regenerative medicine developed. After returning to the DRK Klinikum Westend, Dr. Marschalek worked as a senior physician in the field of reconstructive knee and shoulder surgery.

From 2021 – 2024, Dr. Marschalek was an integral part of the knee surgery team at MedCenter 360° in Berlin Steglitz. His focus was on joint-preserving surgical and non-surgical therapy for knee joint diseases. As part of the QKG Fellowship 2022 with internships in various surgical centers in Germany (Heidelberg, Darmstadt, Mittelrhein), he was able to expand his surgical skills and advance his training as a cartilage specialist.

Dr. Marschalek pays particular attention to the accompanying therapy of inflammatory joint changes when treating knee joint diseases. This involves a holistic approach, ranging from nutrition (dietary supplements) and sporting activities to local influencing of the inflammatory reaction through autologous blood injection or fat stem cell treatment (SVF). This novel therapy, in which precursor cells are obtained from fatty tissue, has been successfully used by Dr. Marschalek since 2022.
